Frequently Asked Questions: Donors

Please contact us if you have further questions at info@socialhealthrx.org

We connect with staff and attendees of opioid treatment programs in areas that meet our criteria.

Before any application is made available to donors we require documentation that confirms the following are true and accurate:

  • Qualifying criteria for application
  • Identity and location
  • Household income and its sources
  • Reason for the application
  • Obligation amount

We perform due diligence to ensure that the documentation is 'real' and that the applicant has been truthful with us about the situation and the need.

If we discover that an applicant has not been truthful, we close the application.

We do not ever send cash payments to the applicant. We remit payment directly to the vendor or creditor on behalf of the applicant.

You have the opportunity to let us know which application (s) you would like to fund in full or in part and we will make every effort to do so. However, to qualify as a charitable contribution, a gift must be complete (i.e., no “strings” attached) and irrevocable. The charity must have full control of the donated funds, and discretion as to their use to carry out the organization’s charitable functions and purposes. Per the IRS at  https://www.irs.gov/publications/p526: "Contributions to individuals who are needy or worthy:You can't deduct these contributions (even if you make them to a qualified organization) for the benefit of a specific person. But you can deduct a contribution to a qualified organization that helps needy or worthy individuals if you don't indicate that your contribution is for a specific person."

However, we ensure all applications are accessible with sensitive information redacted so you can see who may have received your donation.
